Hiro Miyoshi is the founder and director of his luxurious name-sake salon which is situated in the heart of Mayfair, London. Appealing to the most discerning of clients, Hiro Miyoshi is known to be one of the city’s best go-to salons for the finest cuts as well as colours. We spend 5 minutes getting to know Hiro and hearing all about his salon…
How did you start off in the business?
It all started in Japan where hairdressing has been running in the family since my grandmother. My parents were also very successful and I always knew that this is what I wanted to do. The plan for me was to open high-end hair salon in London and the only way to do it was to first prove myself as one of the best.
Who is your customer?
My client is the typical Mayfair resident or visitor. These are well-travelled, successful internationals who know what they want and expect only the best.
What is your signature hair do?
Precision cuts and wavy blow dries are something I really enjoy, but always like it when my customers are brave to experiment.
What are the recent trends/most requested hair styles or cuts?
We see a lot of layered cuts and the casual looking glamorous textured style that are getting traction. Full and bouncy blow dry are also trending, inspired by Kate Middleton.
Which classic haircuts are your all-time favorites?
I’ve always liked the Bob and all its variations. Vidal Sassoon brought it back to popularity in the 60s and he’s true inspiration to me.
What is London style to you?
London for me has the trendies people and when they’re never scared to experiment or lead the way. The only word I can describe the London style is the ‘brave look’. Our clients look after their hair and demand speed and quality in equal measures.
Are there plans to open any more salons in the near future?
Absolutely! This is just the beginning and we find so much demand for high quality, great customer service hair salons.
