In the Upper East Side of Manhattan, on the corner of Madison Ave and 77th Street (just one block east of Central Park), lies the opulent Mark Hotel. In a beautiful 1927 landmark building, it is one of NYC’s most boldly lavish hotels with 106 rooms, 50 suites including the most expensive suite in the country, the 12,000-square-foot Mark Hotel Penthouse.
Designed by legendary French interior designer Jacques Grange, The Mark Penthouse was revealed in September 2015 and became North America’s largest penthouse suite. Including two rooftop terraces overlooking Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and beyond, the penthouse boasts the largest outdoor terrace in the city measuring at 2,500-square-feet. Exuding modern luxury, the penthouse is adorned with bold grandeur, color and artistry to create an exquisite and grand space under a landmarked copper cupola.
“The penthouse delivers an experience that surpasses that of many other luxury hotels all over the globe,” says the Director of Sales & Marketing, Andrew Jeffries. “This environment transports guests to a category that is matched with all the amazing services of the Mark where no detail is overlooked.”
Since his re-design of the hotel in 2009, the design process of the penthouse has been in constant evolution for Grange. From the meticulous install of the Eric Schmitt staircase to unique pieces from artists such as Karl Lagerfeld, Jean-Philippe Delhomme, and Todd Eberle, this unique property boasts unrivaled luxury and comfort. With exquisite specially-made fabric to numerous custom pieces, the penthouse features space and light aplenty and is detailed in ultimate high-end luxury with bold accents to make visitors feel like it is a true home away from home.
“This majestic penthouse is the ultimate residence away from home for those who truly understand rarified luxury; who seek a grand space that is equally equipped to lavishly entertain as it is to provide a homely oasis and home to a family with the extraordinary amenities the hotel offers in terms of personal service. It is really like a castle in the sky,” says Jacques Grange.
Set on the top two floors of The Mark Hotel, the suite includes five bedrooms, six bathrooms, four fireplaces, two powder rooms, two wet bars, a full-sized kitchen and the living room which boasts 26-foot ceilings that can be transformed into a full-sized grand ballroom. The penthouse also boasts its own Conservatory, Library Lounge, stately Dining Room that can seat up to 24 people and two outdoor decks that can be used for dining and entertaining while affording guests breathtaking views of the city.
The majestic penthouse employs custom furnishings designed by Jacques Grange dispersed throughout, with every piece being unique to The Mark. “For those who seek rarified luxury, this grand space possesses the fit and finish, world-class service, and immense size that the most discerning guest would expect,” said Jeffries.
Guests who stay at the penthouse are afforded the five-star services and amenities offered at The Mark Hotel like its dining options from Jean-Georges, John Lobb shoeshines, a 70-foot sailboat available to charter, complimentary bicycles and pedicabs for hire and much more.
