The Julia Hotel

Sometimes you just want to have it all.
No compromise, no holding back on what you require to have a great experience in getting away.
Your great experience.

Seldom can the traveler find the perfect balance between history and contemporary, a simultaneous nod to the old and the new which at its best, creates the perfect fusion of both worlds, covering all bases with finesse and polish.

The Julia is just that and more.

Being the only adults-only boutique hotel in the up and coming and very desirable SoFi neighborhood (South of Fifth) of South Beach, this hotel just underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation to bring its historic structure into modern times. Named after the iconic “Mother of Miami Beach” Julia Tuttle, it debuted in all of its glory, incorporating the modern vibe of the neighborhood with this Art Deco building’s history. The Julia’s exterior is built on the foundation of the former Lido Hotel circa 1932 with its interior common areas featuring both modern and traditional artwork, Cuban tile floors and assorted Turkish pillows and throws in softening the space up with creature comforts. The design, by Seattle-based architect interior designer Stephen Busto, pays homage to the old Miami, incorporating earth tones and hues of coral and gray, complete with the lobby’s portrait wall with the paintings half obscured by a large gray matte color across the bottom half, making for great conversation. The idea is to let guests fill in the blanks, to interpret what their imagination concocts.

The Julia offers 29 rooms in total, with 5 two-story “Ibis” bedrooms featuring paper-cut origami like butterfly art by Japanese artist Yumiko Mizutani, which hang from the tall 2 story vaulted ceilings in shades of pink, blue and green. With its Art Deco façade and its Mediterranean revival vibe, the little touches amount to a lot showcasing spaces which are comfortable and luxurious all at once.

The property also offers a number of complimentary amenities for guests to enjoy daily, like their sprawling and fresh continental breakfast with direct from the bakery croissants, brioche, pain au chocolat, yogurt, fruits and more. Coffee is self-service, dispensed from their Starbucks mini kiosk in the lobby. Feel free to fill your cup throughout the day and fuel yourself for all that awaits you.  At sundown, enjoy the hotel’s select wine and cheese happy hour from 5 pm to 7 pm and start the night ahead with cheer.

Feel like exploring?

The Julia is just scant steps from the beach, shops, nightlife, diverse dining and more. With an exclusive location along iconic Collins Avenue, between 3rd and 4th Street, when you feel like getting out and about, you’re centrally located and among some of the top restaurants, shops and nightclubs in the city while the beach is mere steps away.

The hotel’s owners, Swedish brothers Jesper and Gustaf Arnoldsson founded SMS Lodging which also has properties in Key West, themselves just as worthy of a visit.

They have taken their family experience and put it all into this project bringing it to a whole new level of sublime.
