Catamaran Boats are the SUVs of the yachting world and are popular for their versatility along with being more commodious. A catamaran means that it is a yacht with multiple hulls and has more interior space than monohulls. Hence, it offers flexible packaging and more space within a smaller footprint. The new 81m catamaran Project M by Nick Stark shows its functionality along with a sleek design. Nick Stark has been a senior naval architect for 20 years and the Australian has a bespoke design studio that has been designing such yachts for the past few years plus also bringing these designs to life.
The design reeks of a sporty look while still having a huge amount of space inside. You get large open spaces with a vast interior and soaring ceilings surrounded by glass for being in tune with the surrounding environment and the seas. It is 81m long with a beam of 22m and a large foredeck which is also home to not one but two helipads.
There are large windows that exude a sense of space and glass panels that intricately surround the structure. The lounge offers a generous amount of space for a theatre and even a grand piano! The owner’s deck has an inbuild DJ system too and a pool. There are multiple lounges being dotted everywhere across the top deck along with private dining spaces, his/hers bathrooms plus more. The upper deck has the captain’s room while aft doors connect them. The hulls double as a beach club too. That’s not all as Project M has a wellness area built in that is also reminiscent of a private island space within this catamaran.
“The extensive glazing makes this a yacht of light,” explained Stark. “The key to this design was to bring the outside in, to respect and admire the beauty of the world while simultaneously providing sanctuary from the elements and also symbolically from life’s ceaseless complications. ”
The catamaran hull configuration along with maximizing space also increases efficiency during high-speed cruising. The systems on board are effective for lowering running costs and also environmental effects. The Project M catamaran comes after the 64 M yacht called Project Grace which was shown in the August of 2021.
