Think of Ferrari and visions of a low-slung supercar with a screaming V12 engine come to your head. Thankfully Ferrari continues to make them and will do in the future but it has also bowed down to the inevitable wave of electrification. Supercar makers have had to embrace electrification in one way or another with either hybrids or full-blown EVs. Ferrari has been dabbling in hybrids for years with the SF90 and the 296 GTB but soon the first full electric Ferrari will come. Yes, October 9 is when we get to see the first electric Ferrari and we can expect more surprises along the way. However, Ferrari making an electric car is not surprising since one must jump on the EV bandwagon with rivals also readying full electric cars.

That said, as seen with the Purosangue, the first electric Ferrari would be different and would be uniquely positioned. Not much has been spilled by Ferrari regarding its electric car and everything is kept under extreme secrecy but some details can be sketched out. We can expect the first electric Ferrari to be more of a four-seater rather than a sports car. It will be in the luxury sports GT segment and will seat four like the Purosangue but may not have four doors like the Purosangue. We also are certain that it would be one of the most technologically advanced Ferraris and pushing north of 1000 bhp.

Ferrari Purosangue, first electric car from Ferrari

Ferrari will be launching no less than six new cars but the EV would be the most important because a lot of expectations would be surrounding it. Of course, Ferrari will also go to extremes to ensure it sounds like a Prancing horse and has enough driving pleasure to justify the badge. Fast EVs are not rare with Tesla’s demolishing drag strips but the Ferrari EV will focus more on the emotional aspect of driving which many EVs lack. Unlike others, Ferrari will keep this electric car exclusive and you will not see the brand churning a lot of them. Prices too would be near the $550,000 mark but Ferrari being this elusive carmaker expects many of the details to be kept close to its chest. One thing is for sure, the first electric Ferrari will stay true to the brand ethos and that is what we expect.
