Precious New Heights
As high jewelry met luxury fashion, what emerged was a foot fatale. Maison Bulgari and shoe couturier Manolo Blahnik recently dreamed up a mind-blowing pair of striking, green silk-satin pumps with a lavish sprinkling of precious gems. Embellished with diamonds, rubellites and amethysts, the ankle strap’s precious trimmings were inspired by Bulgari’s Festa high jewelry collection, launched earlier this year. With its pink-hued gems resembling pepperoncini, Italian extravagance sparkles on Blahnik’s unique shoes.
“To co-design these unique pieces together with legend Manolo Blahnik was the realization of a personal dream, I am just addicted to his shoes!” confesses Lucia Silvestri, Creative Director, Bulgari. “Colors, creativity, daring femininity, unexpected materials, excellent craftsmanship, attention to details…Manolo Blahnik and Bulgari have a perfectly shared view in matters of luxury creations.” While designing the bejeweled shoes, Lucia had the perfect counterpart in front of her. “The green silk satin reminded me of the colors of peridots and I just needed to find the right gemstone combination,” she explains.
“It has been an honor to work with such an iconic brand with a wonderful Italian heritage. We both share the same vision and creativity to produce beautiful things for beautiful women. I adored the accessory which was used, totally divine and perfectly complimented the zesty green satin!” adds Blahnik. This shoe was co-designed in celebration of The Art of Shoes exhibition organized by Vogue Spain, as a tribute to the Spanish footwear designer.
