The 2024 Monaco Yacht Show has once again dazzled attendees with its unparalleled display of luxury and innovation, leaving many awestruck by the sheer scale and opulence on offer. This year, 120 remarkable yachts graced the docks, with the standout being Lürssen’s latest creation—Kismet, a 122-meter masterpiece available for charter. Listed with Cecil Wright at an astonishing €3 million per week, Kismet was undeniably the showstopper, drawing eager visitors and industry professionals alike, all vying for a chance to step aboard the most talked-about yacht of the event.
The yachts showcased at the event represent the craftsmanship of their respective shipyards. They may be on display for charter, offering prospective clients and professionals the chance to explore and book them for the upcoming season, or they may be available for sale.
Such is the case with many of the vessels on display, including Bartalli, a 47.05-meter yacht from Wider Yachts, represented by Moravia Yachting. Launched in 2016, Bartalli features cutting-edge technology, including a diesel-electric propulsion system that minimizes noise, reduces vibrations, and lowers fuel consumption, making her an eco-conscious choice for buyers seeking to reduce their environmental impact. Priced at €19,800, this multi-award-winning yacht offers luxury accommodations with five opulent cabins.
In a similar category, Medially, a 46.3-meter yacht built by Baglietto in 2015 and presented by Moran Yacht & Ship, comfortably accommodates 10 guests across five cabins. Her expansive exterior spaces, including a generous beach club, are perfect for relaxation and water activities. The sundeck is equipped with a jacuzzi, where guests can soak while taking in stunning ocean views. With an asking price of €17,900, Medially is designed for extensive voyages, promising luxury and adventure for her future owner.
Many yachts miss out on the show when the harbor is at capacity, often remaining at anchor. However, HBC, the 85.65m Abeking & Rasmussen yacht showcased by Hill Robinson, welcomed potential charterers on board, showcasing her newly refurbished, refined, and elegant interior. With soft neutral tones accented by vibrant splashes of colors and tasteful artwork, she invites visitors into a sophisticated and tranquil atmosphere.
This yacht can comfortably accommodate 12 guests across 11 cabins, including a unique cabin converted into a wardrobe, a game room, and a massage room, among other features. An extension of 7 meters in 2009 allowed for the installation of a glass-bottom pool on the aft, offering guests a stunning view of the ocean below. Additionally, her extensive beach club opens to the side, providing extra space for sunbathing and outdoor enjoyment.
Large beach clubs are often added during yacht refits, which can be a more manageable option for owners, even if it means the yacht might be immobilized for several months. This allows owners to enhance their vessels without a complete overhaul.
Such was the case with Adventure, a 52.69m Feadship, which found its way to the Monaco Marine Shipyard. Through thoughtful planning, the owner was able to accomplish the desired upgrades without altering the essence of the yacht. With her 20-year survey approaching, the shipyard visit presented a perfect opportunity not just for routine maintenance but also for additional enhancements.
The interior received a luxurious makeover, featuring high-quality soft and colored leather from French upholsterer Atelier d’Excellence, they replaced the previous materials and enhanced the yacht’s interior to give her a more contemporain, sober and stylish look.
The hull was completely repainted, and most significantly, a new bathing platform was installed. Adventure now boasts an additional 2.7 meters in her beach club, providing guests with more teak space and a closer connection to the ocean. Additionally, the beach club is equipped with a transformer, facilitating easier access to the water for toys and equipment.
Yachts for charter typically feature an owner’s cabin, a VIP cabin, and several additional double or twin cabins for guests. Nicolas Fry, Head of Charter Management at Hill Robinson, has developed an innovative concept that allows yacht owners to profit from chartering their vessels. This 60-meter design, created by Dölker + Voges Design, is the result of extensive research with charterers and crew members. Notably, it includes cabins of equal size, some of which feature sliding partitions to create larger accommodations when needed.
Fry emphasizes the importance of crew comfort, stating, “During charters, yachts often spend a significant amount of time at anchor. Since the crew plays a crucial role in a charter’s success, we believed it was essential to provide them with dedicated outdoor space.” This thoughtful design feature sets this yacht apart from others on the market.
With this new approach, the charter yacht industry has the potential to expand even more rapidly.
The number of new yachts continues to grow each year, as innovations push the boundaries of technology, optimizing vessels for enhanced performance and sustainability. Additionally, designs are becoming increasingly efficient, maximizing onboard space. Given these advancements, the yachting industry has a promising future ahead.
