The Italian shipyard Benetti launched Motopanfilo 37M – a 36.8m (120’9″) yacht with a contemporary, stylish, and ultimately spacious design in Viareggio. Named after the leisure yachts owned by the likes of Prince Rainier and David Bowie in their day, the desirability factor is synonymous with the stylish luxury they convey. The lines of this yacht give a retro nod to Benetti’s original features thanks to the sophisticated design from Francesco Struglia, while her imaginative interior displays a fresh creative from Lazzarini Pickering Architetti. Ensuring a degree of elegant nostalgia has been retained, the main focus is to fully emphasize her superb interior volume and flexible spaces.
Gathering inspiration from the iconic Benetti navettes of the sixties, the Motopanfilo 37M offers clean-cut lines with a simplistically chic exterior using tapered forms. She features a displacement hull, designed by Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture, and is constructed with a GRP hull and superstructure. The Motopanfilo’s Standout feature is the smooth 1960’s clamshell silhouette of the cool beach club zone, employing modern tech for access with an integrated stern swim platform-come-terrace. In the same vein, the seemingly floating upper-level observation deck above the hardtop delivers a private hideaway to soak up seclusion and sensational vistas, something that has become increasingly sought after according to the yacht experts at PlainSailing.com
Emulating the concept of a whale skeleton, Lazzarini Pickering Architettihave created a modern, curved interior framework, and exterior deck design, whereby structural beams serve to maximize window space, allowing light and scenic views to flood in, while mirrored surfaces further accentuate the spacious feel. Wooden bulkheads have been replaced by glass and the unique staterooms hug the curves of the hull, clearly defined by the overall shape and not straight walls.
Overall the sophisticated and timeless Motopanfilo 37M is a triumph of design, where subtle elements of the past are incorporated within a thoroughly innovative yacht.
On the main deck, towards the bow, there is a modern-style saloon and the owner’s suite, while four comfortable guest cabins and three cabins for six crew members are located on the lower deck. A spiral staircase joins the lobby to the central mast that rises through two decks as it accompanies guests to the sky lounge on the upper deck. The aft part of the upper deck is designed for convivial moments in the open air, with areas for relaxation, conversation, and sunbathing. The captain’s cabin is adjacent to the wheelhouse, and on the exterior towards the bow, guests are welcomed by a hot tub and sunbeds.
The observation deck once carved out around the mainmast, is positioned above the hardtop on the new Motopanfilo 37M. The deck provides a sheltered nook in the sky, absolutely intimate with a special view.
The displacement hull is designed by P.L.A.N.A. (Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture) who ensure smooth navigation and maximum comfort while being on board. The Benetti Motopanfilo 37m is powered by a pair of MAN V12s of 1029 kW (upgradeable to 1213 kW) each, which guarantees the yacht a maximum speed of 16 or 18 knots depending on the engines chosen, with a range of 3,800 nautical miles at the 10-knot cruising speed.
Ocean Independence recently announced the sale of hull no. 02 from the much anticipated Benetti Motopanfilo 37M model. Ocean Independence Sales Broker, Lukas Stratmann, represented the buyer, with delivery anticipated for May 2022 to her new owner. Lukas Stratmann commented, “For me, the Benetti Motopanfilo 37M is the perfection of simplicity, bringing iconic elements of a classic sixties heritage combined with decidedly twenty-first-century thinking.”
