Our nearest celestial neighbor has captivated esteemed watchmakers like Christopher Ward, resulting in the creation of remarkable moon watches. The C1 Moonphase, being our most ambitious moon watch to date, showcases a dial made from aventurine infused with reflective flakes of copper oxide, resembling a starry night sky. Each piece of aventurine is unique, making each watch truly one-of-a-kind.

In contrast to previous CW moonphase models, the dial of the C1 Moonphase is stripped of all adornments, placing the focus on the handset and the oversized moon itself. Speaking of the moon, the moon of the C1 Moonphase is twenty-five percent larger than the moon on the C1 Moonglow. These moons, rotating on an aventurine disc, are crafted from Globolight, a blend of ceramic and Super-LumiNova. Covered with a four-color print of the real moon, the three-dimensional effect is enhanced, and its glow-in-the-dark is white instead of green.

Our in-house modular movement, Calibre JJ04, is truly ingenious. It links the moon to the hour hand, resulting in perpetual motion that smoothly represents the phases of the moon. With proper winding, JJ04 accurately tracks the moon’s phases for an astonishing 128 years. To witness the enchantment of mechanical watchmaking, simply turn the timepiece over and marvel at the movement through the sapphire case back.

Clarity has been enhanced as well. The C1 Moonglow’s sapphire crystal has been replaced with a box-sapphire crystal that is coated on both sides to reduce reflections. The 40.5mm case boasts brushed and polished surfaces, ensuring comfort and wearability.
