Jewelry is a woman’s best friend, and accessories as iconic as an Omega watch would add a lot to her personality. The chic and statement addition to the Speedmaster series might be the next item on your watch wishlist! For 2020, Omega is expanding its iconic Speedmaster series in the 38 mm women collection in 18k gold that oozes luxury and timeless class.
Founded in the year 1848, Omega stands to be a true pioneer of luxury watchmaking. Dexterity, precision, unparalleled craftsmanship, and the urge to create something new and unique defines the ethos of this Swiss luxury watchmaker. The world of horology and elite watches have undergone massive change, from chronographs to tourbillons; there’s a lot for everyone’s tastes and preferences.
The Speedmaster series from Omega is a special series that has a lot of history and articulation. The first launch of the Speedmaster dates back to 1957 when Omega was the official timekeeper for the Olympic Games. 63 years later, the Speedmaster still moves seamlessly between the masculine and feminine realms. The Speedmaster CK 2915 was also known as the ‘Broad Arrows’ due to the broad arrow hands sweeping the dial. Designed by the Claud Baillod, it featured some of the hallmarked features: the high-contrast index markers, the triple-register chronograph layout, and the domed Plexiglas crystal.
Since then, the Speedmaster has been imagined and reimagined in various sizes, versions, and complications. A highlight of the Speedmaster was when the manual winding Speedmaster Professional or ‘Moonwatch’ landed in NASA’s Gemini 4 mission. The watch was also the first watch worn by an astronaut walking on the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission. The Speedmaster Professional remains to be the first, and by far the only NASA approved watch fit for EVA.
Speedmaster 38 mm collection
The classic Moonwatch design with refined feminine sense and style, the 38mm Speedmaster, elevate the watch experience to another level. The best part of this expanded collection? The bold color choice – ideal for the woman of the 21st century. This exquisite material transforms the legendary Speedmaster look and works in perfect harmony with the collection’s soft dial colors, oval sub-dials, and pleasing aesthetics along every curve.
The first variant having a taupe-brown leather strap is beautifully contrasted with the fiery red tones of 18K Sedna™ gold that gives every element its fair share to shine. The watch also includes a creamy silvery dial that follows the “cappuccino” style of previous models, except the entire dial is the same color to emphasize the simple chic nature of the design. The hands and indexes are also 18K Sedna™ gold with a date window at 6 o’clock. The other variant is a radiant 18k yellow gold, a silvery opaline dial complemented with a green leather strap. There is a beautiful mix on the dial with the hands in a gradient 18k yellow gold and green varnished with the yellow gold indexes.
One can select the iconic tachymeter scale set on an aluminum bezel. If that isn’t enough, there is also an innovative dual bezel split between aluminum tachymeter with an outer circle encrusted with 90 full-cut diamonds. The dial also houses the Speedmaster’s iconic double dots at the 12 o’clock position. Every sub-dials is constructed in a combined oval/circular style that exudes a more feminine look. There is a 30-minute chronograph counter on the right, a running seconds displayed on the left, and a 12-hour chronograph counter at the bottom. The watches are priced at $15,600 for the standard bezel and $18,900 for the models with the diamond-set bezel.
