Berry Bros. & Rudd has secured the exclusive UK partnership for Vignoble des Cabottes, a newly established Burgundy estate bringing together some of the region’s most prestigious vineyard holdings under a fresh identity backed by Artémis Domaines.

The appointment marks one of the most significant Burgundy wins for the historic wine merchant in recent years and signals an ambitious new chapter for vineyards formerly associated with Bouchard Père et Fils. UK distribution across the on-trade and independent merchant sectors will be supported by Fields, Morris & Verdin (FMV).

Vignoble des Cabottes launches with a 35-hectare, entirely estate-owned portfolio centred on the Côte de Beaune, including Grand Cru and leading Premier Cru sites such as Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, and Corton-Charlemagne. Historic climates, including Volnay Caillerets, Meursault Perrières, and Beaune Vigne de L’Enfant Jésus, also form part of the estate. The 2023 vintage will be the first officially released under the Vignoble des Cabottes name.

The new domaine reflects a broader strategic shift by Artémis Domaines toward a stronger emphasis on estate-grown fruit sourced from the most prized parcels within the Bouchard Père et Fils vineyard portfolio. Under the leadership of long-time head winemaker Frédéric Weber, the estate has significantly expanded vineyard resources and introduced a more detailed, terroir-focused approach in both vineyard management and winemaking.

Organic certification and biodynamic practices sit at the heart of the project, alongside wider sustainability initiatives including agroforestry and biodiversity restoration across the vineyards. In the cellar, techniques such as micro-plot vinification, more rigorous fruit sorting, and longer ageing programmes have been introduced to refine precision and complexity in the wines.

The result, according to the estate, is a collection designed to express the individuality of each site while preserving the character of each vintage. The project is also supported by investment in new winemaking infrastructure, including a winery in Puligny-Montrachet.

For Berry Bros. & Rudd, the partnership strengthens its position in Burgundy at a time when opportunities to secure exclusive representation for estates of this scale and pedigree remain increasingly rare.

Adam Bruntlett, Senior Wine Buyer for Burgundy, Loire, and Jura at Berry Bros. & Rudd, described the deal as “a landmark moment” for the merchant.

“In a region as well-established as Burgundy, estates of this calibre rarely emerge, and the opportunity to help shape their introduction to the UK market is hugely exciting for our Burgundy-loving customers,” he said.

Victor Pépin, Deputy CEO of the estate, said the partnership would provide strong exposure for the wines in the UK market across both trade and private client channels.

“We are delighted to begin this new partnership with BB&R in the UK, which we are certain will provide excellent exposure for our new property to restaurant professionals, enthusiasts, and private clients alike,” he said.

Beyond its commercial ambitions, Vignoble des Cabottes says it is focused on the long-term preservation of Burgundy’s historic terroirs and adapting vineyard practices to meet the challenges posed by climate change. The estate plans to continue investing in innovation across both vineyard and cellar as it works to establish itself among Burgundy’s leading contemporary producers.
