The Royal Salute Platinum Jubilee Edition is not just another whiskey as it is a celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The Scotch whisky brand Royal Salute already has a historical connection with the Monarchy and in fact, the first Royal Salute Whisky was made in 1953 as a gift to Queen Elizabeth II on her Coronation Day. Hence, this new ultra-rare and collectible premium edition seem befitting to be launched on such a special occasion for the Queen.

It is a rare and classic whiskey of which only 147 bottles would be made. For travel shoppers, there would be a limited number of bottles available at different airports like the London Heathrow Airport, Dubai International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, Haikou Meilan International Airport, Sanya Phoenix International Airport, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Incheon International Airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport Bangkok, Ben Gurion Airport and Sydney Airport.

This special and rare whisky is also closely inspired by The Queen and each bottle comes in a hand-blown Dartington Crystal decanter along with a nod towards her use of brooches. Hence, the makers at Royal Salute used the seven different brooches from Her Majesty’s personal collection as an inspiration for the decanter design. Each bottle is decorated with one of the designs based on her collection. Even the box designs reflect her color palette and her wardrobe, which is needless to say, quite famous.

Not only that but they have also partnered with London-based jewelers Bentley + Skinner to make a brooch in honor of the Platinum Jubilee. The custom piece consists of yellow gold and platinum while being set with 70 diamonds. The aforementioned single-crystal decanter will accompany this and so will a wooden box that shows this unique design. The unique and bespoke set containing the brooch, designed bottle, and the box has gone up for auction, along with a separate lot of all seven crystal decanters at Christie’s.

As for the whiskey itself, it’s aged perfectly and the notes contain red apple of the Inverleven Distillery, Lochside, and rich toffee of Caperdonich. At a retail price of $20,000 for each bottle, this special whiskey is a collector’s item for sure.
